Cavs only team talking with T-Wolves

ESPN has identified only one team in talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love: The Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Timberwolves want top pick Andrew Wiggins in return, as well as former top pick Anthony Bennett and a future first-round choice from the Cavaliers.

Captains have one more game at West Michigan

The Lake County Captains finish a road trip tonight.

They visit the West Michigan Whitecaps this evening at 7 o’clock.

The Captains beat the Whitecaps last night 3-2.

Corey Kluber needed just 85 pitches to toss a complete-game shutout in leading the Indians to a 2-0 win over the Mariners at Progressive Field. Kluber improved to 11-and-6 after allowing three hits and striking out eight. Yan Gomes ripped a two-run double in the fifth to provide all the offense for the Tribe, which won for just the second time in seven games. Felix Hernandez set an MLB record despite falling to 11-and-3. With seven innings of two-run ball, Hernandez recorded his 14th straight start of those numbers to eclipse Tom Seaver’s 13 straight games in 1971.

The Mariners have a rematch against the Tribe today and that game can be heard live starting at 6:37 on ESPN 970 WFUN.

The Major League Baseball trade deadline is today. Justin Masterson is being traded by Cleveland to the St Louis Cardinals for minor league outfielder James Ramsay. Masterson having the worst season of his career.

The Lake County Captains beat West Michigan last night 3 to 2 and they play again today.

Suspended Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is ready to blame second-hand smoke for testing positive for marijuana. reports Gordon’s legal team intends to dispute the accuracy of the positive tests during an appeal hearing on Friday. One sample barely exceeded the threshold for a positive test and a second from the same sample registered under the threshold, consistent with exposure to second-hand smoke. Gordon was suspended for at least one year after violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy for a third time.

The Browns had yesterday off after five straight days of practice in Berea where training camp will resume today. Cleveland is prepping for its first preseason game at the Lions on August 9th.

The Willoughby-Eastlake Schools are installing a new security system in schools that will allow first responders to directly access all the surveillance TV cameras inside the school to see what’s happening in real time during an emergency such as a live shooter. In addition the system displays detailed floor maps and aerial views and creates a virtual model of the school building online.

Lake County Man Pleads No Contest to Child Rape

A Lake County man pleaded no contest to two counts of child rape in lake County Court. 24 year-old Joseph Guzzi was babysitting a 10 year-old girl on two occasions when he touched her private parts. Guzzi says he has trouble reading and writing and appeared confused in court, but was found ompetent to stand trial.

Chagrin Falls Couple Stars in Same-Sex TV Spot

A same-sex couple from Chagrin Falls is being featured in an ad that begins airing on television stations across Ohio. Why Marriage Matters Ohio is featuring Henry Hawley and George Vassos in the spot that calls for the legalization of gay marriage. The men were married last year in New York after 50 years living as a couple in NE Ohio.

Ashtabula Uses Drug Money for Police Work

Ashtabula police will use cash forfeited by drug dealers to buy police dogs and equipment, and also to pay for undercover drug buys and travel expenses for witnesses in cases. In the past 18 months police have seized more than 44 thousand dollars in cash.

Conneaut Tables B&B Rules

Facing criticism from one bed and breakfast operator at the council meeting this week Conneaut Council tabled a proposed comprehensive set of rules for B&Bs in Conneaut. Fred Bucci of Buccia Vineyards Guest House said after looking at the new regulations that there s not one B&B in town that would comply with it. Council agreed to send it back for more study.

Man Surrenders on Drug Charges. Police Suspect Him of Murder.

The Ashtabula County Sheriff says a man turned himself into deputies on a warrant for a drug offense, and this man turns out to be the man they think shot and killed a man driving a car on Fern Street on Friday. They believe it was 34 year-old Jermaine Ruth who used a semi-automatic rifle to riddle the car driven by Devonte McCurdy of Cleveland, who died from a bullet to the chest.

The Lake County Captains look to rebound tonight.

They drop in on the West Michigan Whitecaps this evening at 7 o’clock.

The Whitecaps defeated the Captains last night 7-2.
