30-year-old LaToya Coleman of Maple Heights has admitted to shipping 100 pounds of marijuana through a Willoughby UPS store. Coleman was arrested last February at the SOM Center Road facility. Lake County Narcotics agents told Willoughby Police they had intercepted the marijuana ahead of time. Coleman pleaded guilty Thursday in Lake County Common Pleas Court to possession of marijuana. She is tentatively scheduled to be sentenced March 29, but that date could change since she is expected to give birth soon.
Two programs received $50,000 grants from the Lake County Senior Citizens Collaborative Initiative. The projects help address gaps in senior services in the county. Funding comes from the county’s senior services levy.
The Lake County YMCA Central branch is hosting a community Health Fair from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
