Trubisky May Be There When The Browns Need Him

The Cleveland Browns are reportedly high on Mentor’s Mitchell Trubisky…but are we talkin’ Number One high, or Number 12 high? According to Executive Vice President of Football Operations Sashi Brown, the Browns are not planning to trade for a veteran quarterback before the draft begins on April 27, so it’s probably going to be a season about retooling Brock Osweiller or rebuilding with a young gun like Trubisky. Many Browns are vocally supporting the selection of Texas A&M Monster Defensive End Miles Garrett at #1, but will Trubisky still be around at the 12 spot?
Brown and vice president of player personnel Andrew Berry conducted a pre-draft press conference Wednesday, and while they did not reveal specific plans, Brown did quell speculation the Browns are working on a trade for Jimmy Garoppolo from the Patriots, A.J. McCarron from the Bengals or any other veteran quarterback. Brown had high praise for Trubisky, the quarterback from Mentor High and the University of North Carolina. The Browns will likely draft a quarterback if they don’t trade for one. The Browns acquired Osweiler — who was 8-6 as the starting quarterback for the Houston Texans — on March 9 along with a 2017 sixth-round pick and a 2018 second round pick, for this year’s fourth-round selection.
