Ashtabula Library volunteers arrest alarms officials

ASHTABULA – The arrest of an Ashtabula County District Library volunteer in connection to the kidnapping death of a teen last week has officials reviewing their hiring policies. John R. Bove, 46, who was a weekend instructor at the library and whose wife was a part time employee is the man police believe kidnapped and killed a 13-year-old Kara Zdanczewski. Library staff did not know Bove was a registered sex offender and say they will recommend to the board that the library does background checks on any new hires and volunteers.
