Captains Lose Sunday, Cavs’ Plans for George

The South Bend Cubs ended the Lake County Captains’ four-game winning streak with a 9-3 decision on Sunday, entering the Midwest League all-star break with a 27-42 record. Left fielder Jose Medina was 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored. A day after he hit three home runs, center fielder Junior Soto, along with Third baseman Gavin Collins, had two hits apiece. Lake County starter Luis Jimenez gave up six runs in four innings. He struck out four, walked three and gave up two homers. The Captains are off until June 22.

According to a report in The Vertical, the Pacers’ Paul George plans to play next year for Indiana, then possibly sign with the Los Angeles Lakers in summer of 2018. If the Cavs were thinking of acquiring the 6-foot-9 small forward-slash shooting guard, they would likely have to trade Kevin Love to get him. The Pacers would need to trade George before next summer, or get nothing in return.
