The city of Ashtabula is being sued

The city of Ashtabula is being sued in connection to a police involved shooting last year. Brendan Hester filed a civil rights suit Monday in federal court, which also names the two police officers involved in the June 2, 2017 incident, in which Hester was shot when the officers responded to reports of an armed intruder at a home on West 38th Street, where Hester had detained the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived, according to his attorney. Hester’s family and attorney contend race was a factor, as Hester is a young African-American man who was shot by white officers. No charges were filed against the officers involved, according to court document.
